Housing Services

• Oman has launched medium- (five-year) and long-term (ten-year) plans to develop the Sultanate’s regions, provide services to outlying villages and limit migration to the major cities.
   
•  Oman operates three social housing programmes, each targeting different income groups. The social housing programme aims to provide homes that suit their local areas, for average-sized Omani families.
   
• Housing loans are an alternative source of finance for Omanis on limited incomes. One of the weaknesses of the social housing programme was that citizens who moved from their communities lost their links with their villages, communities and sources of income.
