Bidding his wife good bye Ahmed closed the door of his house and rushed towards his car. In a blink of an eye he cranked it and pushed his car accelerator in haste. The car was so fast as if it was a rocket penetrating the sky. What an outrageous speed? Definitely careless & irresponsible road manner shouted a pedestrian who was about to cross the road in search of a taxi.
It seems as if Ahmed is not paying heed to the extensive awareness program about car accidents and the necessity for safe driving.
On the road he was shifting lanes left to right. In fact he was not even bothered to put on his indicators as he was passing between the lanes. He continued with his careless attitude for quite sometimes. As he was driving with his irresponsible behavior he felt that his car was not stable. He tried to control it but to no avail. At his horrifying speed the car got a flat tire as a result of improper maintenance. The car got off balance. He couldn’t control it. As if it was a movie, it kept rolling all over the place and hit a flag pole. The car was severely smashed. He was injured and his body got several bruises. The passerby were spontaneously pulling over and surrounding the place where the accident took place. One of them called the police. By the time the ambulance came, Ahmed was taken out of his car and immediately shifted to the hospital.
He went out deep thought. He was whispering to himself what foolishness! My car is damaged! I could have lost my life and made my kids orphans and my wife a widow while she is young as a blossoming flower.
Why all that? Is it for a fake sense of courage and daring? Is it because I wasn’t organized in the first place and didn’t wake up on time so that I can reach on time?
Why don’t I follow the road etiquettes? There are traffic signals, radar and the right of way. A person should pay his utmost attention to all these aspects.
Thank God, I was not killed. It is a second life and I should not spend the rest of my life being careless and irresponsible any more.
I was fortunate as I didn’t kill someone by my reckless driving. If so, the shadow of guilty conscious would have followed me for the rest of my life.
Inside the hospital all his family members came to see him. They were horrified. His wife and kids were all shedding tears. He couldn’t control himself and he was also soaked in tears as well.
Ahmed took that incident as a turning point to disseminate the awareness among his generation about the necessity for safe driving. He organized awareness programs and participated in so many activities to say no for reckless driving.
