Qantab Getaway
For those of you who know and for those who have yet to discover Oman, its
beautiful landscape and sights that vary from Beaches, Mountains, Deserts
and Wadis, lets not forget its cultural and traditional preservation
signature all around it. Its unique beauty is defined in its towering
mountains that range running along its coast. Oman has made an affective
transition to modernization and in the mean time preserved its cultural
uniqueness. If you believe in the saying “Beauty is at its simplicity” you
will surely appreciate what this country has to offer.
Oman has a row of dramatic beaches, there for, it offers activities for
beach visitors that comprise of swimming, diving, snorkeling, surfing,
boating, sunning and if you love to sleep in the outdoors under stars and
the wide sky ‘camping’. If you are looking for a day or even a weekend
getaway of being pampered, relaxation, or water activities, I would suggest
a couple of place not at all far from town, but far enough from the city
hustle. The Oman Dive Centre and the Shangre’la Resort, are situated in two
different private bay in the cliffs between ‘Qantab’ and ‘Bar Al Jissah’.
Both locations meet their means, and both have water activities such as
swimming, diving course to obtain (PADI license), snorkeling and Dolphin and
Whale watching trip through the Shangri’la.
The differences lie in this:
The Dive Centre has a restaurant, pool and bar area, complemented with a
relaxing sea view. The accommodation’s constitution focuses in projecting
characteristic, huts made of traditional ‘barasti’ palm-leaf, rooms are
fully equipped to meet your comfort needs, best described by me as luxury 3*
hotel camping.
As for the Shangri’la, it’s a five star destination Resort situated between
a background setting of the rough interior mountains and the water of the
gulf of Oman, beautifully designed to enhance landscape and culture. This
resort comprises of three hotels, each with its unique integrated design
specially to reflect modern art with Oman’s traditional spirit. What makes
this place stand out is its ability to accommodate every family member’s
needs, if you’re looking to get a little R&R, then perhaps you should
indulged in a luxuries Spa treatment, its eminently known for it’s Chi Spa.
Although the similarity is there, the contrast is obvious. It may all
depends on you’re personal taste, your target of execution or even your
budget, but know, both have their own quality.
While the drive may take 20 min from the town center, it is a pleasant one,
be sure, to notice the beautiful view of the horizon on your way up and its
evident landscape.
